actual scrapbook pages

I know so totally amazing! Not that I have done them over the past couple weeks. These were done and then lost in the piles of stuff that collected on my desk. Finally got them photographed and uploaded. Nothing slow about me! LOL

This is Kira's fourth grade class picture. I swirled the kids in the class since I don't have permission to post them. Very simple layout but it works. And I finally had a chance to use those metal letters that have been in my stash FOREVER!!

This one is of our very own Elf on a Shelf, Scout. We adopted him last year. He got himself into some pretty fun spots around the house. He was also a bit of trouble maker. One night he rearranged the tins on the Advent Calendar, another one he 'helped' put the candy canes on our tree by using them as a ladder to the top of the tree! On this particular night, he grabbed my point and shoot camera and had himself some fun around the house! The kids loved it and can't wait for him to come back this year to do it again!! Scout left the kids a letter on Christmas Eve since he was going back to the North Pole with Santa.

Easter Morning in our house this year. My 'enamel' embellishments didn't come out too good. I didn't adhere them very well before adding the glossy accents. Oh well... still like how this came out. Used a pagemap for this one. I don't remember which one though- sorry.

Alex at his family birthday party in Syracuse. He put on a bit of a dancing show for us before the party. So many cute shots I couldn't choose one or two. I used the Picasa collage feature to create the 8X10.

Another birthday layout with another collage. Love them. They make scrapping in a hurry much easier. This is my first banner. Not sure if I like it or not, but I did it. Cross that off my list of things to try.

Another wonderful collage. I didn't get very great pictures of Kira during her concert so it was good to be able to edit them into useful pictures for the collage. Love the big one of her with her BFF Michaela.

Here are a couple things I did do yesterday. Love them. I found the idea on Scrapbook.com from a scrapper named 3peaspress. So simple and fun to do. I bought different sizes of the glass ornaments to make up some photo ones and to have Kira make some for her friends. Thinking of all the fun things she can do with hers!!

Here's a close up. I used glitter number stickers to add the year. I also put a bit of glitter in the bottom of the ornament before I started rolling the paper strips. On a few of them, I would add a bit of glue to both ends and a small bit to the side before putting it in the ornament. Then I shook it so the glitter would stick to the paper. It's a little bit of bling and looks neat. The rolling of the paper is such a stress reliever. I did pack my ornaments pretty full as the rolls will unravel if left on their own and with space to grow. I liked the fuller look better for mine.

So those are two teacher gifts. I have to make another one for a helper in Alex's class and then Kira's Girl Scout leaders. I need more ornaments. Guess I should grab them while they are on sale at Michaels this week. That's where I am heading tomorrow!! And maybe some more ribbon. It's on sale too. ;)


I have figured out how to give them, I need to do it and make sure it works. Keep your eyes peeled for that!

spirit week 2011

Yes I have been scrapping. It has been a slow process with the kiddos here. But that's okay. To help me move along, I printed a boatload of collages in 8X10 size so I can quickly scrap a bunch of events and won't feel so overwhelmed. Plus it was fun making the collages!! I used Picasa 3 to create them. It's a free program, and I like free. Plus the learning curve is pretty simple which makes it perfect for me!!

Anywho... here are the pictures of Kira during the schools Spirit Week this April. I messed up and forgot to print the pictures that I had put the information on and instead did the blank pictures so I used some stickers to tell the story of that week. I used pawprints since the schools mascot is the Jaguar and the colors are blue and white. Worked well. The printing on the journaling strips is Kira's printing. I had found a site that did a free create your own font and we did hers. Love it. It's from over a year ago... but it still works.

And here is today's picture of the day. This lamp is/was mine when I was living at home. My mom painted it and entered it in a competition and won a blue ribbon for it. When I left home, she wouldn't let me take it out of the house. I know... not very nice of her. Fast forward to this summer when Kira is staying with my parents. Suddenly the lamp can leave the house WITH KIRA!!! I mean really?? I was in my 20's and I couldn't take it with me but heck why not give it to a 10 year old. hmph.

Anywho... it is now Kira's. I have already told her she cannot take it out of the house when she moves out. Seems fair to me. She just laughed at me. It looks great on her desk. It is in the same spot as when I had it on that very same desk. Good things bear repeating.

Check out the amazing clock that Kira made at the Corning Glass Factory while she was on vacation with Nana and Papa. I love the fish. You cannot see it but at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 positions, she has actually used bits of glass to write out the numbers on those squares. So neat!! Maybe I'll tell her that can't leave the house when she moves out either!! ;)

oh the fun i had

Yesterday I somehow ended up doing something I hadn't planned on doing. But I am glad I did!! I spent a good portion of the day working on photo collages! I need to order pictures for my Project Life and then realized I hadn't printed any pictures since Christmas!! eeek. That is a ton of pictures. Especially since you have to take into account Alex and his MANY birthday parties!!

I decided I would take the best of all these pictures and create collages with them to save me the time of ordering all those prints and then trying to scrap them. I'll be able to slap the collage on the paper, journal and add some fun embellishments and I'll be good to go!! Many layouts done and memories saved. Of course it took awhile to go through and find just the right pictures to use for each event. But I did it.

Below are a couple of them that I did and liked!! The first is some time we spent with FIL in February. Alex was obsessed with his new game Trouble and insisted everyone play. So much fun.

The second one here is of my bunny. This bunny was bought by my dad on the day I was born. He has lived a good and full life. He has actually spent MANY MANY years hiding away in my childhood closet. Poor thing. One of his ears comes out and he lost an eye sometime back. In fact, I don't ever remember him having two eyes!! He was bright pink with a blue satin ribbon. I know this since I have pictures of him in that state.

Funny side story to this bunny... my dad had bought him for me and brought him to the hospital and left him in a chair in my mom's room. The night nurse hadn't seen him come in and when she went to check on my mom during the night, she about had a heart attack as she thought someone was in the room!! Poor lady.

Anywho... I decided he needed to move on but I couldn't be the one to toss him in the trash. So I let my parents do that dirty deed. I did have the fun of taking some pictures of him before he left the building. The ones of Mr. Bunny at the curb, were taken by my dad as a way of trying to make me feel guilty for deposing of him. I like to think he is going to a better place.

Of course my stuffed animal loving daughter, wanted to adopt him. It was hard but I put my foot down. May you find peace, Mr. Bunny.

I used Picasa 3 to make all my collages. Now that I have the hang of it, it's a simple process and pretty darn fun!
