a day in the life

It is summer.
It is hot.
All is good.

You can tell how good it is just by looking at those two happy little faces! I mean seriously... does anything else say summer like that??? I thought not.

We headed out to Jacksons Landing in Durham and met up with my friend Nicole and her crew. Thank goodness we got there early as it started getting pretty darn hot by the time we left.

Alex ran around good and hard and Kira ran around with her Webkinz Kangaroo and her camera taking pictures and movies of their adventures. I need to get a few as they were pretty funny. I think my favorite was when he started driving the van with me.

Anyway... it was a great time out and about. I'm sure the McFlurrys afterward didn't hurt in the least either.

Love those happy smiles!!

half day = picnic and friends

The kids had a half day of school on Wednesday for the teachers to have a workshop so I planned a picnic and a playground trip with my friend and her kids. Thank goodness the weather cooperated with us and gave us a glorious lovely sunny day. After our picnic I grabbed my little guy and did a photo session for his 6th birthday. I am very happy with the pictures I got. Now to decide which ones make the birthday frame for the year. Such hard decisions.

I will be starting with this one as I am totally in love with it.

Then I was able to wrangle all five kids into smiling for me and sitting still. Not easy and I took MANY pictures to ensure that I got everyone with eyes open and looking at me. Such a cute group we had.

Then today it was off and on rain and sun. Of course not enough rain to help with our drought conditions, but enough to mess up plans to play at the playground after school. grrrr.

project life weeks 31-37

Here are the next group of weeks completed. I am very excited to have this years album done and start working on next years. I am thinking I shall be using the Cobalt kit. Then again, the Clementine kit is very pretty.

In case you haven't looked before, this year may be the year that you might want to peek. Instead of having to purchase the entire kit (binder, core kit, plastics, dividers, extra papers) for one price, you now have the option of buying just what you want/ need/ can afford. Love this!! Click here to look at prices and options.

The plastics for this coming year are amazing!! I have ordered them and received them. I ordered some for my 2012 Project Life book as well as enough for two school years books. That is when Becky gets them out (hoping for early spring of 2012) It's a start on my journey to organize all that paperwork the kids generate from learning at school.

Anywho... here are a few more weeks of 2011....

fun in the sun

Yesterday was such a lovely day, a group of us moms decided to take the kiddos to a local park for a picnic and some fun in the sun before the rain and snow begin their falling. We had a good group of kids. My friend Nicole snapped the following two pictures of the kiddos and they are wonderful! So perfect for my Project Life picture. Aren't they just the cutest kids??

We got there around 11:30am and didn't leave until a bit after 2pm! Alex almost fell asleep on the way home but managed to keep going until 8pm. The only reason he was up that late was I had a PTA meeting and daddy had to work late. He didn't make it much past his head hitting the pillow.

Today I get to go hang with the kindergarten kids. Love my Wednesdays (and any other day the teacher asks me to come in) So much fun hanging with the little ones.

Nope... still haven't gotten the Halloween garland pictures off my camera. Hoping to do that later today when I have a minute to myself. Cross your fingers!!

project life 2011- weeks 16-19

Got my photo order from Winkflash and got my Project Life pretty much up to date. There are three weeks that are missing one picture each. Those pictures were on other peoples cameras and I didn't have them when I place my photo order. Those weeks will have to wait to be posted!!

Week 16- Spirit week for Kira and a rainy Easter Egg Hunt for us this week.

Week 17- Easter Sunday and then CKC weekend with Jackie!! That is some sticker shock over the price of gas on Tuesday!! Certainly not driving the car until it is empty anymore!!

Week 18- Kira will learn someday not to take silly pictures as more often than not, they end up in a scrapbook!!

Week 19- Mother's Day and the PTA's Spring Auction. Good week. Especially Monday night's drink with dinner... yummy.

today rocked!

Kira did not have school as the teachers had a workshop however, Alex did have school. We dropped him off and picked up some donuts and hot chocolate and came home. I had to be on a conference call/ webinar for a bit so she played nicely and enjoyed her fun breakfast. No guilt as she wasn't headed to school!!

After my call, we headed out to pick up Alex and have some fun at the Open Gym at the Rec Center. There were a ton of kids (all the older kids who are usually in school) there so it was loud but fun. Not much drama and no injuries!! All in all, a great time. I snapped this picture of my kiddos. Simply adorable!!

After the Open Gym, my friend Nicole and her three kids, came over to play. It worked out good as we needed to give her youngest his birthday presents. Love when a plan works!! Again, lots of fun, not much drama.

We headed out around 4pm on a surprise for the kids. I had told Alex and he did very well not letting Kira in on the secret. He's so good!! We ended up at Chuck E Cheese!! We had a boatload of tokens and tickets from previous visits to use and turn in. Of course we had to eat and get more tokens... of course. ;)

The kids had a blast! Seriously a blast. They barely sat still long enough to eat their dinner they were so excited to get winning tickets. Not that we needed many more. We had a gallon storage bag full. Yes GALLON sized bag. Somehow we managed to slip more in and use all the tokens we had... whew!!

Then it was the fun of having the ticket chomper count them all. Here's a picture of our bag of tickets. For your information... this is what 3191 tickets looks like!! Yup, we had a few!

The kids ended up with a stuffed dog for Alex and a baseball hat for Kira. A giant outdoor ball for both of them. Then a bunch of small toys to use up the rest of the tickets. They were quite happy to have won all those tickets and gotten some good prizes. We have left a few times with the cheap toys that break on the car ride home. Nice to get some better things.
