boston field trip through kira's eyes (photo heavy)

On the fifth grade field trip to Boston (June 12th) I let Kira use my point and shoot while I had my big camera. I thought it would be fun to see what she was looking at while we were walking around. She caught some great scenes. She really has a good eye for taking pictures. I was happily impressed with what she took. I'll save my pictures for another post. For now... enjoy walking around Boston's Freedom Trail with an eleven year old girl and her classmates.

our friday

Friday was a busy one for the Foltz Family. Kira and Daddy went on the chorus/ band field trip. First they were able to compete in the Great East Festivals competition. Very happy to say that both the chorus and the band won the gold medals!! They are a great group of kids. Here is Kira with two of her good friends holding the award.

The second part of the field trip was to go to Canobie Lake Park to burn off the excess energy. The money for this trip was funded by a pancake breakfast that the kids all had to work at as well as a Dessert and Show they put on. Standing in the splash zone of one of the water rides is always a highlight. Last year it was too cold for Kira (60's) but this year was a tad better so she donned her bathing suit and got soaked. Here she is with the group of girls hubby got to chaperone. He said they were a great group and had a ton of fun.

After they got home from their field trip, we went to Build A Bear for their Friends Reunion. If you brought in one of your Build A Bears, they could get a check up, redressed with ribbons and a free t shirt. Alex took advantage of the bath and the new ribbons for his dog Mickey. Poor dog left with every single color of ribbon on his ears. And he is one healthy puppy.

Kira brought her beagle Benny and I brought my pig Oinky. We even got to take our picture with our friends. So much fun!!

After dinner at the Outback (total splurge on our part), we went to Toys R Us to get Alex the IronMan chest piece he wanted and daddy had promised. While we were there, he HAD to have the mask. It is a tad too big for him, but he looks so adorable in it we gave in. Here he is all set to be IronMan! So cute.

The rest of the weekend has been non eventful. We have done some organizing and cleaning out of things we have and haven't used in years. Pretty laid back but good. I think we can make it until the end of the school year now.

project life weeks 38-43

Here is the last batch of my pages. I know... we don't have that exciting of a life but it's ours. There are many things in this scrapbook that I don't think I would have ever scrapped traditionally but since I only need one quick picture and some journaling... all is preserved for the future.

The best part of Project Life?? You can do it however YOU want to. Love the flexibility of the products. Especially the new ones coming out now and in the future. You do not need to do a picture a day. You can do a layout for a month... or two. Or even a vacation album. Or maybe a few vacations in an album. With the different plastics available, you can set your album up however you choose. There are even these amazing Big Envelope Pages available. Talk about great for souvenirs and other goodies all scrappers collect. 

Sorry for the hard sell on Project Life... but I think it is an amazing way to capture life and all that entails. Enough from me... enjoy the pages.  :) 

emery farm field trip

Today I had the fun of chaperoning the AM kindergarten field trip to Emery Farm. Alex was so excited about his first field trip. He kept telling me last night that I couldn't get him to school any later than 8:20 or he was going to miss the bus to the farm. I let him know that I would make sure he got to the school in plenty of time to catch the bus.

After our hayride through the Spooky Forest (which really frightened Ms. Lazarus) everyone got to pick their own pumpkin. This was Alex's choice. The rule for picking a pumpkin was you had to be able to carry it. Parents were not allowed to help. Now if I could get that rule for when we go places, I would be golden.

Time for a stroll through the corn maze. Can you tell it's the end of the season? The poor corn is practically falling over when you walk by. But it was fun and we finally made it out. Thank goodness that Ms. Lazarus had a red jacket on at the end so we could see her or we would probably still be wandering around!!

There's my little guy with a sad face. He wanted to ride home with me. I thought he wanted to ride on the bus. It worked out okay since we had to go to the school anyways to pick up his book bag.

Yesterday I called the heater company to find out if they could send someone out to check our heater. It was not working. No heat coming out. As I was talking to her she suggested some things to check for before they sent someone to my house which would mean I would have to pay a service call. If those things didn't work, they would send someone out. Happy happy me managed to get it working!! Guess there was an air bubble or moisture in our fuel line and it just needed to be primed. So happy it was a simple thing that I could manage. Better yet, I didn't have to pay money to get heat going. Always a good thing. Heat is good too since those nasty weather people are saying the "S" word for this weekend. Totally not liking that.

Off to hang up my Halloween garland that I have been working on FOREVER! Hoping to share pictures of that tomorrow.
