disney 2008 continues

oh heck... who am I kidding? This trip will never be completely scrapped, I can feel it. The good news is is that it doesn't matter and I am having fun reliving the memories and using my stash. So it's all good.

This started with a PageMap and then took on a life of its own. I had more pictures than were on the sketch so I went for it and added them in and played around. The Disney paper is from Downtown Disney as is the sticker on the side. Added the rub on (here comes the parade!) and used alphabet rub ons for the title. Stitched a few sides of pictures here and there. Added some Mickey heads and called it done.

Pretty happy with it. Now if I could manage to work on the page on my desk. I have ignored it all day. I didn't like how it was going and I'm not sure if I will like it any better now. Thinking that in the light of another new day, it might start to grow on me.

But I did get my Project Life photos caught up (see previous post) so that makes me feel oh so happy and joyful. Kira picked up her saxophone from the school. We had forgotten to pick it up and as I was looking over my online calendar, it dawned on me that we were missing it. We tried to get into the school, but they are doing construction at the entrance so I went to the exit and went in that way. All of the office staff was laughing at me since they saw me coming in and then all around the parking lot so I would be heading the correct direction to leave. At least I made them smile!

pixie dust

In the craziness that was last week, I did manage to get a layout done. I started with a PageMaps sketch and off I went. I love having a starting point, even if the final layout looks nothing like the sketch. It takes so much pressure off of me which makes it easier for me to scrap.

These pictures were taken during the Pirate and Princess Party with Mickey parade. TinkerBell was on top of this treasure chest and would throw out pixie dust on everyone. So darn cool!!

The papers I used were a Bazzill bling for the background and the rest came from a TinkerBell pack of paper I bought at Downtown Disney. The popped Tink in the corner was part of a pack of stickers also purchased at Downtown Disney. The pixie dust was a package of TinkerBell confetti. I glued them down and added small rhinestone blings to the centers in blue, clear and purple. The parenthesis were picked up at CKC one year. The title are rub on letters.

The story behind these pictures and why I used them even though they are quite blurry (she is quite fast as a fairy you know) is one kid in Kira's class was picking on her for having weird color eyes and she was not happy about that at all. I told my dad and he was quite put out that anyone would criticize his granddaughter, especially on her eye color since it is pretty close to his own color. (they are a lovely shade of gray with speckles. If Kira is wearing blue, they turn more blue than gray and when she is wearing green they almost appear green. Magic eyes.) When he came to visit us, he told her that she had very beautiful eyes and that when she visited Disney World in 2006, TinkerBell had sprinkled pixie dust into Kira's eyes when she flew over her head before the fireworks.

While we were at Disney, we told Kira we would make sure that TinkerBell sprinkled more pixie dust into her eyes to keep them so lovely... and wouldn't you know it... she did!! The story will be preserved on the back once I get it printed out. I think it will end up being a tag you can pull out. We'll see.

We all survived the end of the school year. It seems so weird to be out this early in June. We usually have school until late into the 20's of the month. We only had to make up two days this year!! Nice and easy winter. The two days we had to make up were for the hurricane that cancelled the first day of school and then our freak snowstorm on Halloween!! Hoping we are just as lucky next winter.

So I have more pictures to share on the last day of school fun, a couple from Kira's Boston field trip and Kira's friends party. But all that will have to wait. Other things to do right now.

halloween 2011

Here are a few pictures from the towns Halloween Haunt that was last weekend before the snow hit us. It was SO COLD!! We were lucky the kids costumes both had gloves but we couldn't layer too much under their costumes as they were just the right size. After we did the parade, daddy went and got the kids their coats to keep them warm.

Sonic the Hedgehog and Pikachu before the parade down Main Street. They even closed Main Street down so everyone could walk right in the street. Love my small town.

Here's my kiddos walking down the road. We dyed a pair of daddy's socks and added some shelf gripper stuff to the bottoms and then slipped Kira's shoes inside of them so she would have yellow feet for her costume. Worked out okay, she scuffed her feet a bit so there was a small hole on one foot.

The backs of their costumes. The kid in the red hat would not leave Kira and Alex alone! He kept talking about video games and characters and such. I finally had to tell him we were doing stuff as a family and he should find his. He is in practically EVERY picture of the parade!! At one point he said he would let Alex wear his Super Mario hat if Alex would let him wear his Sonic hat. I had to tell him no.

I did finally take pictures of my garland but haven't removed them from my camera yet. I promise they will be posted soon. Today I spent the day uploading pictures to be printed, copying my pictures onto CD's and deleting them off the computer. I hadn't done it since April! It needed to be done badly. Now I won't lose things if the computer crashes.

Of course that means I am beat beyond belief and need to get off the computer for a bit. Catch you all on the flip side.

parade pictures

And because she asked so nicely.... here are the pictures from the town parade yesterday Alien!! Of course everyone else can look at them... but please wait for Alien to look first since she did ask for them. *giggle*

Here's my little guy before the parade. He was a posing fool while we waited. We were at the very end of the parade route. It ends at the cemetery across the street from our house. Works good for us!! So we had a bit of time to kill before anyone crossed our path. He loves doing these wacky poses for me when I have my camera.

This is Kira's troop. I would love to point her out to you... but she is not here. I was concerned that they had lost her during the parade. Seriously wondered where she was. The Brownie troop behind them is headed up by my friend Nicole.

Oh look.... there she is behind the Brownies. She was walking with her friend Maggie who is in another troop in the town. Should have known that is where she would be. Can't blame her. They did have a play date earlier in the day. Oh in case you are wondering... she is the one with the floral skirt on looking at the camera. LOL Her troop leaders are the two of the ladies behind her. The one with the sunglasses waving and the one in the black shirt. They are amazing. I am so happy they are still working with the girls. Love them!!

Here's her troop. At least some of them. Not everyone marched. Good group of girls.

Here's Kira with her friend Maggie. Had to get a shot of her patches on the back of her vest. Nana works hard to get them all on. Those ones are NOT iron on and mommy sewing... not a good thing. Much safer to let Nana handle that. I do know my limits and sewing patches is beyond me!

Today I did manage to get the front bed uncovered from the dead leaves and weeds. I am SORE! Need to pick up some mulch and maybe a couple plants to fill in the spaces of the ones that died over the winter. I'll write that on the shopping list for tomorrow when we hit Home Depot for two new doors. Nothing like stuffing the van full when the kids are at school. :)

memorial day

It was a hot one here today. I am so happy that they had the town parade at 6:30pm instead of at noon!! Don't think I would have enjoyed it as much. I'll post pictures tomorrow of my girl marching with her Girl Scout troop. I'm beat and need to hit the bed as the regular week will start again tomorrow.... is it June 22nd yet?? School will never be out! grrrrr

Anywho... lots to do this week. With hopefully lots of pictures to follow! Wish us luck on the possible painting of both the garage and the house. Along with replacing the falling off trim around the garage doors as well as replacing the side door on the garage and the side entrance door of our house. Looking forward to getting rid of the glass in the doors. AND getting dead bolts installed on both of them. Long week ahead of me.

On the sharing front... we did manage to get the deck furniture out of the garage yesterday before we all felt too sticky and gross from the wonderfully HOT weather. We also got the winter cover off of the sandbox. That was a bit interesting as there was a small family of mice living in the sandbox!! Seriously... who does that?? I screamed a bit as I was so not expecting anything living in there (maybe a spider or two) but mice. Nope. Didn't see that coming. Poor hubby was behind the extremely large winter sandbox cover and couldn't see why I was screaming, until he peeked around. The good news... they ran off the deck pretty quick (probably under the deck) and hubby cleaned the nest and rest of their belongings out of the sandbox. They have been evicted. I'm a bit scared to move the summer sandbox cover. I don't want to see them again. eeeek. I don't do wildlife well. The summer cover fits better than the winter but we'll see. I may have to hire the neighbors cat for some mousing duty.

Pictures tomorrow. Not of the mice... parade and whatever else strikes my fancy!!
