quick recap

Tonight was awesome! We had some amazing volunteers help us out in serving the ice cream and making sure everyone was happy with their toppings. We also had helpers taking the money for the basket raffle and the donations at the door. They are the greatest!! It wouldn't have gone so great without them.

I do still have some more pictures of all the items in the basket, but here are some of the finished basket. It's really a bag instead of a basket. I received the bag from Bath and Body Works last summer and knew instantly what I would use it for. Thank goodness all I made fit in so nicely!!

2 post it note holders in the front bottom, Alien green friend exploding box behind them, 2-5-7-10 gift boxes on top of everything.

Side showing the lunch box notes (donated from Jackie!!) The blue is the Easter mini album I did a couple weeks back. There are some larger cards I had made a bit ago that found themselves donated to the cause.

On this side there are gift card holders in front of the exploding box.

Here is a better shot of the whole thing. Please pardon the terribly messy desk as I have been creating and not cleaning. I now need a major overhaul!!

My to do list from Sunday was completed. Whew... clean undies included. The PA announcements, I'll have to copy them tomorrow to share. The best part of them... Kira is reading the announcements this week anyways (Student Council members do this weekly) and it so happens to be her week! I am so excited. I couldn't have planned it if I tried. My photos taken sign did not come out nice at all so no, I am not sharing it. I was rushing and it's horrible but it works!!

Off to grab a bite to eat then off to dreamland. I am beat! I'll post more pictures tomorrow. Promise.

cards to share! (photo heavy)

I AM DONE! I FINISHED!

Yes, this is cause for some major celebration on my part. The PTA basket is now done. whew... even have a few minutes to spare to post this before I head to the school for the evening. This is not all of the cards, or all of what I have put into my basket. But it will have to hold you until I can get back here and post some more. Wet your whistle so to speak. ;)

I ended up making 28 cards for this basket. I did four of each of the following themes: get well, thinking of you, birthday, new baby, thank you, hi and congrats. I also had a few cards that I had created before that I included in the basket. Just to clean things up around here. Gotta stop holding onto EVERYTHING.

Here goes.... love this paper from DCWV spring stack from some year. Added the stitching to make it look richer. Love it.

Can you tell I am loving that flower?? So much fun to make. I'll get the folding of it down sooner or later. LOL I even dug out my Sizzlits alphabet to do the letters on this one. And of course my stand by.... stickles!!

Gotta have a boy card as well!
I dug out some twill stickers that I had for Alex's baby book. Perfect for this!!

Look my nesties in action again!! I used some metallic rub on on the embossing to make it stand out. Not sure why I didn't stickle the candle on that card. I had planned on it. oh well... too late, it's in the basket!! But it does have a few blings!!

Another flower!!

Still digging through my paper scraps. Ribbon scraps and embellishment scraps!! Love that all these things work together so nicely.

I had to add the stickles to the circles in the border punch since I messed up and put adhesive down first before I thought through my design and had some sticky hanging out in those spots. Worked out okay though. Happy mistake.

Plain and simple but fun!

Hope this makes someone feel better.

Fun scraps!!

Purple thank you with Joann embellies.

Dug out this border punch. Not sure why I don't use that one more often!! Pretty neat look. Joann embellie.

That's it for now. Off to get everything together so we can jet. Need to make up the kids picnic dinner. Maybe even throw something in for me to eat. Now that is a novel idea!

working working working

Okay... I have been working on getting these cards done for this basket. Along with taking care of the family, house and finishing last minute details for the Turn Off TV Week fun. I have my list and am checking things off. Going well.

Items on today's to do list:
1. work on cards. I have 10 more to make.
2. work on some laundry. Clean underwear is a good thing.
3. Write up the PA announcements to be read in school to excite the kids for the week.
4. Finish decorating the baskets and get them all labeled.
5. Make a 'photos will be taken during this event and posted on the PTA website' sign

Not too much.

Monday's to do list:
1. pick up water bottles (got kicked out of Walmart yesterday when their power went off and I couldn't get it)
2. pack 16 baskets into my van along with the cooler full of water and ice. Could be a tight fit.
3. make copies of the flier that will go home with the students on Tuesday
4. set up the baskets and take pictures
5. HAVE FUN!!
6. maybe even work on more laundry (definitely not part of the have fun item)

I am not going any further since I have a feeling the lists will be longer. Don't want to get too far ahead of myself. Don't need the stress.

Best get busy!

cards and my girl

Forgot to post this adorable picture of my little lady. I took this while Alex was getting his groove on. Can you tell she loves her stuffed animals just a smidge? Love that smile.

Okay... decided I would post some of the cards. I was looking at a couple of them and the pictures were horrible. Need the sun but these ones are pretty good. At least the colors if not the cards themselves. LOL

I am working on these cards for the PTA basket raffle at our school next week. I am trying to create a bunch of different themed cards that I know I am constantly running out of. This one is a sketch by Roxie/ Rox71 at SplitCoastStampers.com (SC38) Scrap papers and I used one of my new clear stamps I got on sale a bit ago. The greens look the same in person.

The flower on this card was inspired by April 2011's Scrapbooks etc. They showed how to make it and it looked pretty simple. Not too bad for a first attempt. I used my VersaMark watermark ink pad to stamp merci onto the petals of the flower. I inked the edges with purple. I colored in the Thanks with my pencils. The brad in the center of the flower is purple.

Looky there!! My Nestie in action. So happy to be able to use them. Thanks Alien!! I stitched the paper ribbon under the scallop circle to give a little dimension. I like it.

Loving my scraps as I make these cards!! I had the fabric covered letter brads FOREVER!! So happy to be using them. This is based on one of Roxie's sketches as well... SC11.

I had fun with this one. New border punch. I stamped the Hi! onto the card and then stitched the light blue paper onto the border. Simple but fun.

Need to make a bunch more. Hoping I can buckle down and do them. I need to have all of them done before Monday at 3pm!! No pressure.... eeeeeek. Any positive vibes, words of encouragement etc you can send will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

sonic in the house

This past weekend we celebrated Alex's 5th birthday with family and friends in Syracuse. Worked out since the kids don't have school this week so we could make it a little longer of a trip. His theme this year is Sonic the Hedgehog. He is in total love with him. We found the party stuff at Birthday Express. I got the email and ordered the stuff that day. Alex was quite happy we found Sonic stuff.

Here he is before the party. He was having a total blast playing with the balloons my mom picked up for him. I just love the joy in his eyes in this one.

Here's the Sonic cake. We picked up the figure at Toys R Us to put on the cake since the store couldn't print Sonic onto the cake (darn copyrights!) and this worked out good. Alex now has an extra Sonic figure.

Opening one of his presents. A Sonic backpack for him to take to school! He totally loved it... if you couldn't tell by the smile!

He adores the Marley books. We have taken this particular book out of the library at least four times. Now it is his and he doesn't have to return it. Love book sales!! And the fact that he is so excited about a book for a present!

This picture cracks me up. He was so into reading the box and finding out exactly what this game entailed. It soon became one of his favorites to play. Except when he gets sent back home. We're learning to deal with not always winning. Hard lesson.

Time to blow out the candles. Only took us lighting them twice for me to get a shot! He's such a good sport he didn't mind. Good cake too!! Wegmans rocks!

It was a good party. I also got a cute picture of me and my BFF but I highly doubt she would like it posted for all to see. I'll have to send it to her first. Of course we are wearing the same color top. We have been doing that for YEARS!! We would always end up with the same color on when we went out. One of us would change since it looked too silly. Nowadays we go with it.

I took some pictures of the cards I have been working on... that's tomorrow's post! Till then....

not today

Okay, today totally got away from me. I had much to do and did not get the photos off of my memory card and onto my computer. On the positive side, I did get the house cleaned up and the stuff from our trip all put away. I picked up food to keep all of our tummy's happy (always a good thing), did some paperwork for the PTA and I got the baskets made for the PTA basket raffle (thanks to the helping hands of my friend Nicole. She came over with her kids and we cranked out 11 baskets!!)

Still working on my stationary one as I have yet to work on cards since before I left for Syracuse. Hoping to do a bunch tomorrow. After I take the kids to Chuck E Cheese for some fun. Gonna meet up with some of the moms and their kiddos to get the energy out of them and have some adult conversation!! Looking forward to that. oh yeah... have to get a gift card from Build A Bear for the other basket we are donating. Little by little they are coming together.

Anywho... my fun pictures of Alex's family birthday party are still trapped on my camera. I hope to get them off tomorrow. Really I do. Pinky swear.

ghost letters and flowers examples

Okay... I know I have used more than this but for the life of me I cannot find the pictures to share. I had a whole package of hearts and am now down to 5 so they are somewhere out there! I'll keep looking.

The blue flowers on the second page of this layout are the ghost flowers. I inked the backs and stapled them to the layout. BTW... this layout was for Nancy. I made one for myself as well since I had pictures of the kids in that same area from our trip. I need to get a picture of it to post it completed!!

And this one I just posted. I attached these letters with floss. Different kind of look, but it worked.

Sure wish I could find more to share with you all. But I think you can get the idea that they are pretty easy to use. Now I just need more of them!! Most of them that I now have I got on clearance at Joanns. Thinking they will not have them again. Very sad.

Off to feed the kiddos. It was a long drive home from Syracuse where we celebrated Alex's 5th birthday. It's a bit early but that was the best time for the family party. We'll celebrate here on the actual day. Good to see family and to see my BFF's new house!! Busy weekend but all good! Glad to be home!
